What happens if you sue the police? | Four Corners

Four Corners have been investigating NSW Police. The process has been difficult because journalists and the public often can’t access documents explaining allegations of assault unless it reaches court.
Sometimes when a person sues police the claim will be settled outside of court with a payment. In fact, last financial year alone NSW Police spent more than $40 million payouts and legal costs.
