How to Pre-Treat (Almost) Any Stain!
Carry out this simple pretreatment routine when you notice a stain!
First, if you’re with other people, politely excuse yourself and go somewhere with access to a sink and paper towels. If the stain is also on your hands, wash them first.
Remove as much of the stain as you can by blotting the stained area with a clean paper towel. Don’t rub! You might accidentally work the stain in deeper.
If feasible, remove the stained garment and run a trickle of cool water through it from the back.
Then, keep blotting until the area is mostly dry to the touch.
Note: don’t do this for ink or grease stains, as you might make the stain bigger.
Even if the stain isn’t fully removed, this quick action will make the full cleaning process much easier.
When you’re ready and able to fully remove the stain, use the tips found in our dedicated guides.
