Starbucks is temporarily closing all of its stores in South Korea for half a day so its employees and the chairman can attend a training session on Korean history and “social sensitivity” training.

The coffee chain received widespread criticism after they launched a “Tank Day” promotion on the anniversary of the 1980 Gwangju Uprising.
At least 165 civilians were killed by the military, though rights groups say the actual figure is much higher.
The controversial promotion triggered protests and the Shinsegae Group, which operates Starbucks in South Korea, fired the CEO.
It’s the first time Starbucks is closing all of its stores early since the chain launched in 1999.
