UK inflation at 2.8% in May
Inflation held steady at 2.8% in the year to May - thanks to a slowdown in food price rises. It means UK inflation is lower than the 3% rise which many experts had predicted, although it is still above the Bank of England's target.

The Chancellor Rachel Reeves said Labour was "protecting families and businesses against rising costs" although the Tories claimed the UK still had the highest inflation out of all the G7 nations.
