How Can GLP-1s Affect Mood?

GLP-1s like Wegovy and Zepbound are transforming the weight loss landscape but along with physical changes, a number of patients are reporting a loss in joy or pleasure. The reports of the unexpected side effect, which some dub “Ozempic personality,” are all anecdotal, but weight loss drug patients across social media are opening up in growing numbers. NBC’s Anne Thompson spoke with Dr. Christopher McGowan about anhedonia, the loss of interest or joy, and its potential ties to GLP-1s, for TODAY.
