VIDEO: Man grabs police taser, uses it to assault officer at traffic stop
During a traffic stop in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a 26-year-old suspect assaulted an officer by seizing the policeman’s fallen Taser and using it on the cop’s collarbone on Friday, April 5, footage released by the Cheyenne Police Department showed.
According to the Cheyenne Police Department, the suspect, identified as Yzail Gauna, was found to have “outstanding warrants during a traffic stop on Friday.”
According to the police, when asked for his name, Gauna provided a false identity, arousing suspicion from an officer, who then asked him to exit the vehicle.
The police said that “while arguing with officers, Gauna began reaching into his pants pocket, which contained a knife.” Then an officer “attempted to remove” the suspect from the vehicle, when “he became physically violent, pushing the officer, and attempting to run away.”
During the altercation, the officer’s Taser fell on the ground. Gauna grabbed it and used it against the officer, driving it into his collarbone.
The video then shows the officers striking Gauna several times.
According to the police, Gauna was finally subdued by the officers and later booked into the Laramie County Jail on existing warrants for domestic battery and a probation violation, plus an additional felony count of aggravated assault on a peace officer.
