Beautiful pink dress, gorgeous golden locks, brandishing a sword. This is the famous Greek warrior Achilles, but it's probably not how you expect to see him. So why has he been painted this way?
‘Achilles discovered among the Daughters of Lycomedes’ was created by Swiss artist Angelica Kauffmann in about 1788 as part of a grand commission for Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia.
