Performance optimizations for Java applications
Applications aren’t always as performant as we’d like, especially as usage and business grows. There are several well-known optimizations used to address performance issues. What’s less well known is when and where to apply each one.
In this session, we’ll explore different types of performance concerns and how to address them. We’ll examine a collection of applications running on both Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Cloud Run that demonstrate common performance pitfalls, and take you through a set of tools and practices to address them, including Cloud Trace, CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint), and native image compilation.
