A Sunday morning turned to utter chaos, after Ukraine’s state rail operator confirmed that a Russian drone strike had hit a passenger train at Yahodyn station, less than 4 miles from the Polish border.
Shocking video posted to Telegram showed the moment of impact, as train passengers rushed to safety down the station platform as a fireball erupted down the tracks behind them.
According to the BBC, Ukrainian officials said a warning was issued right before the strike, which allowed passengers to evacuate. Politico reported that no one was injured in the attack.
Although the strike was not deadly, a slew of EU officials have denounced the bombing. Not only was the strike a few miles from NATO territory, but a diplomatic train from Kyiv carrying high profile dignitaries had just left the station.
