Israel and Lebanon agreed on a 10-day ceasefire that took effect at 5 p.m. April 16, sparking celebratory gunshots and rocket-propelled grenade launches in Beirut. This led to many displaced families being able to return home. On April 17, vehicles packed with salvaged belongings could be seen backed up on the route to the Qasmiyeh bridge. The families were met with cheers and victory signs.
