Polly’s wonderfully character-packed 88m² shed home is proof that downsizing can give you more of what you love, not less!
After selling her much larger house, Polly moved onto a shared property in Queensland, Australia, with her son and daughter-in-law. Her new small home is only a few steps from her growing family, creating a beautiful multigenerational living arrangement while allowing everyone to retain their own space. The move also allowed Polly to become mortgage-free and help her son with his mortgage.
Built from a customised shed shell, this unique shed house has been designed around everything that brings Polly joy. There’s a beautiful pink kitchen, a huge home cinema setup with its own popcorn machine, an incredible collection of movie and television memorabilia, a dedicated craft room, a guest bed and an attached garage.
For cat lovers, this home is something truly special. Polly has created an amazing cat-friendly house with a huge enclosed outdoor catio, custom cat climbing walls and play spaces throughout the interior. She even built her own bed to match the beds she made for her cats! It’s fair to say these very lucky cats received just as much design consideration as Polly did. ?
Behind all the colour and fun is a practical, future-proofed forever home. Wide entrances, an accessible bathroom, an open shower and a carefully planned layout have all been designed with ageing in place in mind.
