Nomadic Surf Teacher’s Stunning (Legal) €33K Tiny Home in France
This stunning €33K tiny home in the forests of western France was designed and built by Aymée, a nomadic surf teacher who decided it was finally time to put down roots.
After years of seasonal work, travelling, backpacking and living in a van, Aymée wanted a home of her own without giving up the freedom and flexibility she loved. With no previous building experience, she spent eight months creating this remarkable DIY tiny house almost entirely herself.
One particularly interesting part of Aymée’s story is that her tiny house is also legally situated. She completed the necessary paperwork with the local mayor and received permission to live in her tiny home on the property, showing that with the right location and local approval, legal tiny house living in France can be possible.
Every part of the home has been designed around the way she lives. There’s a large kitchen, a waterproof entrance and bathroom for wet surf gear, a spacious living area filled with natural light, clever storage throughout, and even an elevated platform for yoga, creativity and guests.
With its curved doors, wave-inspired exterior, artistic roofline and colourful interior, this is a tiny home packed with personality. But perhaps the most inspiring part of Aymée’s story is what she learned while building it: you don’t need to know how to do everything before you begin.
We hope you enjoy the tour of this beautiful self-built tiny house in France!
