Council apologises for issuing parking fines after fatal train crash
Bedford Borough Council has apologised after issuing parking fines to drivers after a fatal train crash.
Hundreds of passengers were caught up in the collision between two trains near Bedford on Friday, with many unable to get access to their cars at Bedford Station car park.
An interim report by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch has said that the train driver who was killed had gone past a red signal moments before the crash with another train, which had unexpectedly come to a halt.
