Keir Starmer has resigned as Labour leader and will step down as UK prime minister.

On Downing Street, Starmer ran through his list of achievements, just shy of two years after winning in a landslide, and set out the timetable for the country's next Labour leader and prime minister starting with nominations on 9 July.
Unable to hide his emotions any longer, Starmer paid tribute to his wife and children and called becoming prime minister the "proudest moment" of his life.
One of the key challengers, Wes Streeting, said he will not stand for the leadership and is backing Andy Burnham.
Burnham is heading to London to be sworn in as an MP and has confirmed he is putting himself forward as leader.
