In response, Kathy Hochul defended her “Local Cops Local Crimes” proposal, emphasizing that local police should focus on community safety while continuing to cooperate with federal authorities in cases involving dangerous criminals. “Donald Trump himself said he would not send a surge of ICE agents to the state of New York unless I ask. I’m not asking,” Hochul said.
