President Donald Trump is responding to concerns over conditions on the USS Abraham Lincoln, dismissing concerns over long deployments. It comes as a U.S. commander toured the aircraft carrier, which has been at sea for a record of more than 240 consecutive days. While Iran is saying there are no ongoing talks with the United States, Trump referenced a U.S. takeover of the key waterway at the center of the diplomatic struggle, saying “Pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States.” NBC’s Matt Bradley reports for TODAY.
