Rain, shifting winds, and remote terrain repeatedly change his plans.
With northern fire crews, he discovers why smoldering hotspots still demand attention after the flames subside. A flight near Watson Lake reveals fire fronts stretching across the forest, while rafting on the Tatshenshini offers another encounter with the region’s powerful natural forces. The pursuit finally leads south to Utah, where he reaches an active wildfire threatening farms and homes.
