
Virgin Media fined £28 million for preventing customers from cancelling contracts
Virgin Media has been fined £28 million after the regulator Ofcom found it stopped customers from switching to other providers by deliberately mishandling calls.

The regulator levied its largest-ever consumer protection fine against the broadband and pay TV firm after it caused customers “unreasonable effort, hassle or undue difficulty” when trying to cancel. Ofcom said this included unnecessary transfers to other departments or dropping calls.
