In this video, I reconstruct "Sadeness" by Enigma entirely from scratch — using only the original audio, my ears, and a lot of careful sound design. ?✨
No MIDI files, no stems, no shortcuts. Just deep listening, synthesis, programming, and mixing. ???️
We break down every single element of this iconic 1990 track:
? the TR-909 drums (sampled from Soul II Soul's "Keep On Moving"),
? the Roland D-50 Pizzagogo bass,
?️ the evolving Korg M1 pads,
? the unmistakable Yamaha TX802 stereo tingling,
? a sample from James Brown’s “Funky President,”
? an Emulator II guitar riff,
? and mysterious wind chimes that nobody can fully identify.
This is not a theory lecture — it's a real reconstruction session. Mistakes included. ?
You'll see how sounds are identified, rebuilt, rejected, rebuilt again, and finally locked into place until they feel right. ?️?️
All of it built using UVI Vintage Vault 5 — 43 instruments, over 18,000 presets, more than 1 million samples. ?
Every element reconstructed using modern plugins alone. ??
? What you'll see in this video:
• ? Full reconstruction of "Sadeness" by Enigma
• ? Identifying every sound by ear — no shortcuts
• ? TR-909 drum programming + swing
• ? Roland D-50 Pizzagogo bass
• ?️ Korg M1 pad layering (and the debate about what’s actually in there)
• ? Yamaha TX802 stereo tingling preset
• ? Emulator II guitar sample identification
• ? James Brown intro sample + reverb treatment
• ? Wind chimes (still a mystery — help us in the comments)
• ?️ Full mix comparison: original vs reconstruction, live in Studio B
