Sir Keir Starmer says he is ‘furious’ that the Foreign Office did not tell him that Lord Mandelson had failed security vetting to become the US ambassador.
The Prime Minister says he will not resign, while the most senior civil servant at the Foreign Office, Olly Robbins, has effectively been sacked.
Keir Starmer insisted was only made aware of the situation this week.
