What Forward Deployed Actually Means
What is a forward-deployed engineer, and where did the role come from? It was basically invented at Palantir. Their software was powerful but incredibly complex, so instead of just shipping it and hoping, they embedded engineers directly with the customer to make sure it actually worked.
That's the "forward-deployed" part: you're deployed forward, out of headquarters and into the field, working directly with customers.
