The UK had its hottest May night on record for the second night in a row. More record-breaking temperatures are expected today across large parts of southern England and Wales, and that heat could trigger major thunderstorms.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across England from 3pm saying that, in some places, the storms could bring over 30 millimetres of rain in the space of an hour.
