Andy Burnham may have been prevented by Labour's ruling body from standing in a by-election back in February, but now the red carpet seems to have been rolled out, and no one else's name was even put forward.

If he beats Reform and the other parties - and it's a big if - he will return to parliament to almost inevitably challenge and possibly destroy Keir Starmer's premiership.
Candidates have been announced by Labour, Reform UK, Restore Britain and the Monster Raving Loony Party. Other parties are expected to announce candidates before nominations close next week.
