The trial of the former leader of the DUP, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, has begun.

In court in Newry this morning he pleaded not guilty to 18 alleged historical sex offences.
His wife Eleanor, who was charged with aiding and abetting her husband, has been ruled unfit to stand trial on mental health grounds.
Sir Jeffrey resigned as party leader after his arrest in March 2024, just weeks after the DUP rejoined the devolved government in Northern Ireland.
