School pupils treated for meningitis in Reading
Two young people being treated for meningitis in Reading are pupils at schools in the area, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed.
Three cases have been identified in Reading, including one college student who died earlier this week. Close contacts are being offered antibiotics as a precaution, the UKHSA said.
Officials say the risk to the public from the meningitis outbreak is low.
It is not thought to be the same strain as the fatal outbreak in Kent earlier this year.
