@JakeBaynes and I put together three mistakes we see beginners make all the time. First one is not practicing slow enough. Everyone wants to play at full speed right away, but if you nail it slow first the speed comes naturally. Second is not playing in time. A lot of players practice plenty but none of it locks into a groove, and a metronome or backing track fixes that fast. Third is skipping ahead to songs that are way too advanced. Trying to learn Pride and Joy before you can play a 12 bar blues is like trying to jump straight to the top stair. Go one step at a time.
