Nato has said it is 'working to understand' Donald Trump's decision to withdraw five-thousand troops from Germany.
The pull-out follows criticism from the German chancellor of the US's handling of its conflict with Iran.
Friedrich Merz said earlier this week that the USA was being 'humiliated' in peace negotiations by Tehran.
