president Mary Lou McDonald, blocked the Garvaghy Road in Portadown to prevent a Loyalist Orange Order parade from passing.
The parade had been given permission to use the route for the first time in almost 30 years, but police stopped the marchers from reaching the road.
The Orange Order says the road is part of its traditional route, while many Catholic, Nationalist residents oppose the parade passing through their community.
The dispute dates back to the Troubles, when clashes over the Drumcree parade led to serious violence.
