B Mixolydian is one of those guitar scale positions that just feels like a jam session waiting to happen. The scale sits really symmetrically under the fingers up the neck, and once you find your B root on the G or A string the whole shape falls into place. It's the same tonality behind Grateful Dead classics like "Scarlet Begonias" and "Fire on the Mountain," and Jerry Garcia's little chromatic moves fit right into the position naturally. Plug it into any key, find a backing track, and just noodle. That's kind of the whole point.
