North Carolina and South Carolina have basically the same name, history and geographic region. Despite this, one Carolina (North Carolina) has become the DOMINANT Carolina, leaving the other (South Carolina) as a relatively forgotten state. But while this might make sense today, it wasn't all that long ago that South Carolina was actually the wealthier, larger and more important Carolina. So what happened and why does North Carolina have so many more people than South Carolina?
In this video, we'll cover the similar but still different physical geographies of the two states, the history of how the states began as a single colony before breaking apart, and why North Carolina surged ahead in the 1800s despite South Carolina being far wealthier in the 1700s.
