Changing rooms and toilets should now be used based on biological sex not the gender you identify with, according to new government guidance that comes in force from today.

It follows a Supreme Court ruling last year that the definition of sex for the purposes of the Equality Act means biological sex - the sex of a person at birth, not the gender you identify with.
While gender critical organisations welcome clarification on the law, many in the trans community and LGBTQ+ organisations feel the guidelines leave them more open to discrimination.
