Donald Trump has hit pause on his plan to launch strikes against critical infrastructure in Iran - saying the "perimeters of a deal" to reopen the Strait of Hormuz were in place.

Mr Trump didn't give any specific details of the apparent breakthrough. But in the last hour Iran's foreign minister has said that talks with Oman over the strait are in the "final stages".
