Vice President JD Vance says the US is close to agreeing a deal with Iran - but said it was not there yet.
Reports had circulated that a 60-day extension to the ceasefire was awaiting presidential approval.
The deal would see the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the restarting of talks over Iran's nuclear capabilities.
But the vice-president said some items were still under discussion and it was to be decided if Donald Trump would back it.
