Andy Burnham has announced plans for a National Care Service which would be free at the point of use, in his speech at the Labour Party conference.

The Prime Minister said the plans, which will be put to voters in the next election, would be paid for by adjusting the pension triple lock, which guarantees how much the state pension increases annually.
He referenced his personal experiences of both his grandmother and his father in care homes, and apologised to care workers for politicians letting them down for “so long”.
