An 87-year-old pensioner whose eviction sparked protests in Madrid

is now being allowed to return home. Last week, police evicted Maricarmen Abascal on a stretcher from her home of more than 70 years. An investment fund that bought her building secured an eviction order after her rent was increased to an amount she couldn’t afford. But, now Abascal’s lawyer says that an agreement has been made with the property's owner and she can return.
