It will be a criminal offence in the UK to support Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) after the government announced the group will be formally designated a threat to national security.
But a Channel 4 News investigation has identified former members of the IRGC and its affiliated Basij militia living in the UK, including individuals whose asylum cases involved court findings linking them to complicity in crimes against humanity.
They say they no longer support the regime in Iran and would be persecuted if they returned.
