Franklin's Tower is one of those Grateful Dead songs that's genuinely fun to play at any level. Three chords, A, G, and D, and a progression that just feels good under your fingers from the first time you run through it.
What makes it especially useful is how much you can layer onto it as you get more comfortable. Work on your A Mixolydian scale over it, try major pentatonic, practice your barre chord transitions, or start exploring CAGED voicings. The progression is simple enough that your fretting hand doesn't have to think too hard, which frees you up to focus on whatever you're trying to develop.
Played it at Red Rocks with Slightly Stoopid and it absolutely delivered. Go have fun with that one.
