This is a great concept for making your solos feel like they cover the whole neck instead of just one little corner of it. The idea is to take one lick you know well and find it in multiple octaves, then use your pentatonic knowledge to connect between them as you travel up or down.
I'm in the key of A and the lick itself lives on the B and high E strings. Once I play it there I slide down into a new position, improvise through the pentatonic to find my footing, and then land on the exact same lick a whole octave lower. Then again even lower on the E string.
Same fingering, same feel, three different spots on the neck. The pentatonic becomes the highway between them. Mess around with that one.
