Education Secretary Lucy Powell described Jason Arday’s death as “awful and tragic”, amid questions over the intense scrutiny and pressure he faced.

She said the University of Cambridge was expected to launch an independent inquiry, while the circumstances surrounding his death would also be examined by the coroner.
Ms Powell said she would closely examine the findings in her capacity as Secretary of State for Education.
