The overall pass rate for this year's GCSE has fallen slightly, bringing it back to levels routinely seen before the Covid pandemic.
Across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the proportion of students getting the top grades has risen very slightly. But for those who haven't passed in Maths or English, the government has promised reforms to the policy that makes them go on resitting those exams.
