Taco Bell says it is removing lettuce from some of its US restaurants after it was linked to a parasite outbreak causing explosive diarrhoea.

More than 1,600 people have been infected with cyclosporiasis, with dozens hospitalised, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The chain said in a statement that it was taking the lettuce off menus as a precaution, while investigations continue.
