If your pentatonic playing is starting to feel a little predictable, this is an easy way to freshen it up. Instead of always reaching for that tried and true note on the 15th fret B string, try swapping in the major sixth, one fret lower. It has a slightly sweeter, more melodic quality that sits really nicely over minor pentatonic. Then take it a step further and bend that major sixth up a half step back to the pentatonic note. That little bend adds a ton of expression. Small addition, big difference in how your solos feel.
