The state will hold elections on Sunday and if the polls are correct, the AFD or Alternative for Germany Party could get over 40% of the vote and a working majority.
It would hand power to a far-right party in Germany for the first time since the fall of the Nazis.
The party’s rise comes at a time of growing economic malaise, fears about migration and a reassessment of German history.
