The US Defense Department has insisted that American forces have not attacked Iran's Kharg Island, where petroleum exports are based, after Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video with the caption "Kharg island being blown to smithereens".
The US and Iran traded attacks overnight for the first time in weeks  and ramped up the rhetoric too.
