The Tig Welded Tiny Home | Expedition Truck Build | Destination Adventure
I have learned through this build, that it takes a team to make a dream. I have done a lot of work on my own, but I have also had a lot of support, and some of the most critical jobs I have had more support than I even know how to accept. This was a huge step in my build process, because these boxes both tie the truck together with the camper, but they will be utilized for the most important aspect of tiny living, STORAGE. Storage is so important in your home when it is small, and even more so when you also run your entire business out of that home. Most of my days are spent exploring outdoors, chasing leads, researching or editing, so my need for space is quite limited, but my need for storage is not. The motorhome I currently live in is quite large and it supports my needs without question, but the exterior storage space on this truck exceeds that of the motorhome by a lot. This was a necessary requirement since I am losing much of my interior storage going to a smaller rig, but this will more than compensate for that loss.
Aside from all of the practical attributes, let me tell you a little bout the build. This build had begun planning many months before the end of my northern travel series, but I hadn't announced it much publicly. When I was in Prince Rupert at the end of my northern trip, I had a bearing failure on my trailer, which ultimately led me to Harbour Machining for some help to press out a race. I was delighted to see that many of the employees were not only familiar with me, but avid fans of the channel. What started as a bearing failure, quickly turned into a very promising partnership. Fast forward five months and here we are, but the last two weeks have been a wild experience. The quality of work, passion and craftsmanship that comes out of this shop is something you would expect from a facility in a huge city with specialized talent. It is not rare to find talent in a small town, but to find talent at the quality and quantity that is Harbour Machining... that is incredibly rare. I did not get to contribute much to the actual build of these compartments, but watching these professionals work, and making a professional film for them and with them was a delight that I have not completely began to completely digest yet. As a team, we have worked early mornings, late nights and weekends, to get this masterpiece to fruition. These are men with families at home, young kids, pregnant wives, and we all came together to make this possible. Certainly not without the occasional frustrated partner ;) but I sure am thankful for their patience.
We are finally on the home stretch of this build, and things are looking really positive. I have been so busy balancing the videos, the business and the build, I am not sure I completely appreciate what it is quite yet, but I sure do feel happy and accomplished. I have so much love and appreciation for all of the wonderful folks that have made this all possible for me. I will be on the road soon and bringing you all the adventure content you re patiently waiting for. Thank you for your patience, thank you for supporting, and most of all thank you for enjoying!
