The Underground Nightlife | Nagoya | Destination Adventure
Sometimes the best way to find "off the beaten path" locations in another country, is simply to just start walking. Intentionally get lost for a whole day, then gps your way back, and you will be amazed what you will find. I hit the city with zero intentions or plans, but I found so much beauty and so many little gems I would have never otherwise found. The temples and shrines were beautiful, and the energy was so powerful. Meeting Nathan was an interesting surprise, and such a treat to get the opportunity to hear about someones story in a foreign land. It can be difficult to feel welcome in a foreign country if you cant speak the language, so finding an english speaker was a real treat.
There is a lively nightlife in Japan, basically every night. Weekends are definitely a little busier, but there is a good time to be had every night of the week as well. The required workload for most of the population in Japan is unfortunately very heavy, which is why the nightlife is so alive. People need to relax and cut loose after the work day, because unfortunately most employers will not allow vacation days.
I not much of a party animal, but this type of socializing, drinking and eating was such a fun way to enjoy the night. If you are planning a trip to Japan, do yourself a big favour and try to find an area without a high concentration of tourists. Then you can enjoy the authentic experience, as opposed to an experience catered to the tourist.
