Heading into this adventure, I really was not sure I would make it to the mine. The road in is 40 km, but so overgrown it took me two day to cut my way in. Once reaching the airstrip, I knew I could safely take the E-Bike. The ride in way tough with the blow down and snow, but absolutely beautiful.
Once arriving at the mine site, I was sad to see how much garbage was left behind. This site was abandoned in 2009, and what was left behind is now stuck at the top of the mountain because the road can no longer support the equipment. It is common to see old equipment left behind at these abandoned sites, but to see all of the garbage was very sad.
The bear scare was quite exciting, but I will be happy if I never have to deal with that again.
